India Renews Travel Warning for Nationals in Iran Amid Escalating Regional Conflict

India has renewed its travel advisory for citizens in Iran, urging them to avoid travel and leave the country amid escalating hostilities. The warning follows fresh Israeli airstrikes, continued regional instability, and growing concerns for the safety of thousands of Indian nationals, including students, still present in Iran.

India on Monday renewed its warning to citizens in Iran, urging them to avoid all travel to the country and leave the region through available means of transportation as tensions continue to intensify in West Asia.

The Ministry of External Affairs, through the Indian Embassy in Iran, issued an urgent advisory in light of the latest developments in the region. Reiterating its earlier guidance, the Embassy advised all Indian nationals against undertaking any travel to Iran.

“In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran,” the advisory stated in a message posted on X.

The renewed warning came on June 8, 2026, as Israel launched airstrikes targeting central and western Iran in response to missile attacks from Tehran, marking a further escalation in the ongoing conflict.

India had previously issued an advisory on April 7, directing its nationals in Iran to remain at their current locations for the following 48 hours. The precautionary measure was announced after United States President Donald Trump warned that a “whole civilisation will die tonight” if Iran failed to meet his 8 p.m. Eastern Time deadline to end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
